The Apple iPhone
The iPhone created quite a sensation before and after it first emerged in the market. Why did it make such a huge impact on the tech savvy community and beyond? Because it’s different, feature-rich and packs advanced technology and powerful impression in one neatly sized package. It’s a mobile phone and iPod combined.
Named ‘Invention of the Year 2007′ by Time magazine, it uses a degree of technology that has never been introduced before. It has all the standard features of a regular mobile phone.
Call waiting, caller id, conferencing etc,. but it also adds the function of an mp3 player at the same time. One of its more outstanding features is the capability of visual voicemail. You are able to select the voicemail you wish to listen to without having to go through all the other voicemails in your mailbox.
The iPhone also features the capability to surf the net. You are able to read your emails and synchronise your computer with your phone to share your bookmarks and other internet features. The iPhone uses the mobile browser Safari on it.
The iPhone is especially helpful when you need to find alternative routes during traffic jams. The Google Maps feature in it can provide various satellite images and maps of the local area for you to decide on a different road to take. Traffic information is directly available via this feature.
Besides these nice functions that make life more convenient, the iPhone also has a 3.5 inch screen and it’s touch sensitive (touch-screen). The bigger screen allows better video quality and more workspace.
The phone is sensitive to its surroundings as well. For instance, if the phone is too close to the users face, it will shut off to prevent any facial featrues from making any accidental entries on the phone. It will also adjust the display brightness based on the surroundings and it will change the angle of the screen based on the phone’s angle.
The iPhone is the must-have technological gizmo of the new era. WiFi connectivity, downloadable music and movies, bigger screen and the sleek look have contributed much to the iPhone’s appeal. Interestingly, with all that great functionality, the iPhone’s main use is email checking. Over 77% of iPhone users check their email on it everyday. The next most popular iPhone activities are web browsing and downloading.
