The latest T639 cellphone from Samsung seems interesting enough that MobileBurn reviews it and writes, “Samsung recently announced the SGH-T639, a stylish clamshell device developed for T-Mobile USA’s network. The T639 features user-changeable faceplates available in Navy, Red, Aqua, and Olive to match your mood. Available with T-Mobile’s MyFaves support, the T639 is listed on the FCC as being T-Mobile’s first 3G compatible device. However, Samsung’s official specifications sheet for the phone do not mention the 1700MHz WCDMA band.
Apart from the 3G support, the T639 also sports a typical 1.3 megapixel camera with video capture and a microSD card slot for memory expansion. The external display is a black and white 128 x 32 pixel resolution screen, while the internal is a 262k color TFT sporting 176 x 220 pixel resolution. The T639 measures 94mm x 38mm x 18mm (3.7″ x 1.5″ x 0.7″) and weighs in at 91g (3.2oz).
Availability will likely be different for different markets in the USA. It is interesting to note that the T639 has already been spotted in a few stores in New York City, one of the likely test cities for T-Mobile’s new 3G network.”
